The Joseph Family Foundation Minority Scholarship Eligibility

General Information about the Scholarship:

The Joseph Family Foundation is dedicated to providing college scholarships to deserving students and strengthening our communities through education projects. The Joseph Family Foundation Minority Scholarship promotes diversity in post-secondary education through an annual scholarship program for Black/African American & LatinX students. Four (4) $1500 Scholarships will be awarded to four high school minority seniors attending a Kansas City  Metropolitan School and Charter. In order to provide many students over the years, the scholarship is not renewable. The Joseph Family Foundation scholars are students who exhibit academic excellence, leadership skills and community involvement as well as activities, awards and honors, and who have a demonstrated financial need in order to attend college. They must demonstrate their desire and ability to overcome barriers and to achieve their goals. Your application will be evaluated on your:

• Financial need
• Community involvement
• Personal qualities and strengths
• Compelling Essay Response

Eligibility/Criteria:

• High school senior
• A legal U.S. resident
• Younger than 21 years old
• Carry a minimum 2.8 GPA
• Minimum Composite ACT of 25
• Be eligible to attend a two- or four-year college or university with a full-time course of study
• Must enroll and attend an accredited institution in the academic year after your selection (verification needed, as scholarship funds are paid directly to the schools)
• You have at least one birth parent of LatinX or Black/African American heritage
• Must exhibit financial need
• 500 Word Essay detailing the challenges of learning during the pandemic. Tell a compelling story about overcoming the challenges of learning and maintaining course rigor during quarantine.

 

What the Scholarship Awards:

• Students seeking degrees through online or distance learning programs exclusively shall not be eligible for the Duane Anthony Joseph Foundation Scholarship.
• Online/distance learning courses are permitted when a part of the required curriculum taught in the campus environment and when such course is only available online or through distance learning.

• Application must be accompanied by official transcripts, ACT scores, academic references, two letters of recommendations (Teacher and Personal), community service projects, completed FAFSA and Student Aid Report, 500 Word Essay detailing the challenges of learning during the pandemic. Tell a compelling story about overcoming the challenges of learning and maintaining course rigor during quarantine.
